It's because he didn't know that his son needed to hear it.

　　A friend of my father's, a university professor, is doingresearch on the Yellow River.According to this professor, the Yellow River willsoon change its course if we allow this situation to continue.Because there isno longer enough water to carry away the silt and mud in the lower reaches ofthe river and the riverbed rises higher and higher each year. We have taken too much from nature, but given back too little in return.And this is the cost of the unbalanced growth.If we had taken care of thevegetation in the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River, we would stillexperience the river as Li Bai described it. While the developed countries are consuming proportionally more naturalresources than the rest of the world, they've also taken some good measures inprotecting nature.And as a developing country, China can learn from them inthis aspect. 　　On December3, 20xx, the Bureau of International Expositions (or call it BIE) announced that Shanghai will host Expo. the BIE had received bids from five cities to host Expo. Among the 5 nice cities, the BIE chose Shanghai at last! Its really an exciting news for not only Shanghainese, but also all of Chinese people.

　　Here are some details about it. Look at this profile carefully. The title is "The World Exposition ,Shanghai, China ". this is the logo. And the theme is "better city., better life".OK, lets guess who is the image representative? Yeah, youre right, Yao Ming! Shanghai Expo is the first comprehensive World Expo held in a developing country.

　　And it is also the first one that takes "the city" as its theme, hoping that it can push forward the city development and help bring about a better urban living environment, just like the theme: better city, better life.
