关于高中口语练习的阅读

I spent my summer vacation in Beijing because my aunt invited me. Still on the express to Beijing, for a long time, I got lost in sweet memories of the past in Beijing.

I had experienced numerous things in Beijing. However, what touched me most and ingrained deeply in me was my uncle’s mandarin learning. At the beginning, I felt extremely puzzled. I wondered why my uncle spoke mandarin so clumsily after having worked in Beijing for almost 20 years. I could remember that my uncle had taught me and his own daughter to speak during our childhood. Now it was our turn to teach him, what a strange feeling!

To my great pleasure, my uncle was earnest and persevering in his learning mandarin, just as I did when he taught me. And I myself often felt re-educated and revitalized when preparing a lesson. With the time passing by, I gradually understood why my uncle’s mandarin was so bad. As a retired soldier, he was only interested in associating with his comrades-in-arms, though he had done business for nearly 20 years in Beijing. Business affairs usually seemed to be my aunt’s personal affairs. Such was my uncle, a man who did not care for his family or business too much. But to my surprise, my aunt never complained about anything.

Personally, I think languages call for exchanging notes with others. Regrettably, my uncle failed to do it. However, viewing from a different angle, perhaps my uncle was willing to offer a chance to communicate with his children. Or maybe he was keen to make us grasp the real meaning of reciprocity. Or it was likely that he wanted to say, “It is never too old to learn”. But, then, they were all my own conjecture.

Since my uncle was always staying in Beijing, I knew only a little about him before. But after having stayed at his home for a whole summer vacation, I found him a really great man. Yes, my uncle was lazy in everyday life and as a father he did do little to take care of his two children. But all those could not suggest that he was a bad father, I thought. As far as his learning mandarin was concerned, I considered him as an acceptable father. After all, he was already in his forties when he began to learn mandarin.

Indeed, as a father, he may not necessarily care too much about the children’s daily life. Instead, if his words and behaviors could help him become the children’s spiritual leader, that was sufficient. I thought my uncle had succeeded in doing this.

On the Hang express, I could not help wondering, had I ever misunderstood my father?
