It is true that summer is hot, very hot. But the wicked summer sun is nothing to me, for I don't usually go out. What I like to do best during the long summer vacation is to stay in my own little room and read. I love to read, but during the school year I could hardly find a free moment for reading. Endless assignments press down upon me like a mountain. I feel confined and imprisoned. Once the summer vacation comes, however, I have all the time in the world to read and read and read. I read everything I want to read. I read to my heart's content. My room maybe small, and the sun maybe hot, but I'm free, I'm happy, I'm really living! Oh, how I love summer!

Do you know what I like?Summer vacation.I like it because I can go outside to play.If it rains,I can stay inside and play checkers. And this summer my family may go to Beijing, because we have not been there yet.
Do you know what I don't like? I don't like homework during summer vacation."This is so difficult,"I complain. But once I begin to do it,I always stop complaining.I just try to finish it quickly so I can have a good time for the next two months!

This summer holiday I plan to go to the beach.I will go there with my parents and cousins. We'll stay there for three days at the local hotel. The trip will be the most wonderful one that I have ever had.Because we will do a lot of things there, such as playing volleyball ,windsurfing ,having barbecue at night.I'm really looking foward to it.

No sooner had the summer vacation begun than I returned to my native town. Of course I must make good use of it;.In the morning I reviewed my lessons and read newspapers or magazines. In the afternoon I played ball games with my friends or went fishing in the river. At night I watched television with my family. hardly had the clock on the wall struck ten when I went to bed.

This year's summer vacation was most enjoyable. I spent fifteen days helping my grandparents doing farm work in the countryside, where I saw mountains fields covered with green plants. Sometimes I went swimming in the river to the west of the village, the water in which was quite clear.
I kept a diary every day. Besides doing farm work, I help the children in the neighborhood with their lessons. All of them showed interest in English. They could read write wellthey could hardly understand simple English. So every day in the morning I spent about two hours helping them improve their listening spoken English. They all made great progress. Their parents all thought highly of me. I now realize that knowledge is very needed in the countryside.
